Finding the right bridal hair and makeup artist

Updated: Mar 10, 2023

Your wedding day is right up there with the very most important things, ever. You want someone who is good at hair and makeup but you also want someone you like. Here are a few key ways to find a great artist who fits in with your standards.

Check out online reviews for the artist. Do they respond to their reviews? Not only should they respond to the good, but the bad ones too. If they have more bad then you can count on one hand to reconsider. No price is low enough to sacrifice your happiest day ever! Run. The reason why you are looking at whether they respond or not is, you want to see whether or not they are considerate. Replying to reviews, good or bad shows class, and good taste. You deserve all of the above.

Once you have reached out, are they responding quickly ( within the same day) to your emails? If not, this can be a telltale sign of an overwhelmed artist. Will they have the time and attention for you at your most special time? If you can be patient, it could all work out. But it could be a sign of what is to come.

Follow up with a trial. During your trial check for sanitation, good communication, and vibes. Is your artist warm and endearing or in a rush to finish? Keep in mind, trials should take 1-2 hours for hair or makeup and 2-3 hours for both.

Pricing

Pricing should be consistent from the first time you spoke to the present. That includes travel. If the price is changing all the time, be mindful and ask why.

At the end of the day, you know when something feels right. Listen to your vibes and you will never fail. Have an amazing wedding day!

Love and light,

JoAnn
